The Halloween staple that either brings elation or extreme disgust. There is no grey on the subject.
You love it or hate it.
Well, I guess that’s not true. I can take it or leave it. I love the thought of it; I think it’s adorably seasonal and a Halloween must-have, even if just in decor. But, then again, like most things today, nothing is as good as it used to be.
How it got the name is somewhat fascinating, but in case you just crawled out from under a rock or something, we’re talking the Mallowcreme candies, that have a slightly waxy texture and subtlety vanilla flavor, shaped like triangles and striped in shades of Home Depot orange, Big Bird yellow and white.
(The ones that include a brown, “chocolate” stripe, are more commonly referred to as “Indian Corn” – for the sake of this blog, let’s just say it’s all candy corn.)
However, for decorations, I’d just buy the cheap stuff , at the dollar or big box store.
Candy corn-on-the-cob would make an adorable centerpiece or appetizer for guests to “pick at” during a party. Veggie trays, sugar cookies and even Doritos chips dipped in a creamy Colby and snowy Swiss, could keep the theme, but up the flavor.
NOW, it wouldn’t be a Glitter Fantasy post, especially not a #FreakyFriday post, without some BOOze!
If you like the taste of candy corn, try infusing your own vodka with it.
If you’d like to add some candy corn bling to your own collection, these flashing candy corn necklaces are cute and super affordable. The one I adore, the candy corn in a bottle necklace (shown above) , would be my top “pick”.
