Halloween is a big deal in our house – and we take haunting seriously, even though we don’t really get any trick-or-treaters and often don’t have the money for elaborate store bought items.
Here, I’ve rounded up some cool ideas to help you haunt your house, no matter how big your budget.
When we have the time and energy, we go all out! Fog machine, strobe lights; we found a bunch of baby dolls marked down to about 50 cents at the dollar store a few years ago, and have bloodied, mutilated and hung them from our giant Queen Anne Palm tree.
Craig, being quite adept with wood-work and such, has carved ghosts and made fence posts for our graveyard sections, as well as coffins that can either stand upright or lie down at a spooky angle.
Dry ice, fake cobwebs, battery operated candles (fire safety, especially around plastic polymers like the spider webs and chemicals like those used in fog machines) and of course, lots and lots of bats! Basically, our Halloween to-do list is longer than both my T-Day dinner grocery list and our Christmas lists, combined.
We are those people.
So, let’s get to it. Nothing fancy or cutesy – just a list of Halloween haunting ideas that you can peruse at your leisure and choose what works for both your budget and your fright factor.
Spooky Halloween Lanterns
I will note, when I found this post, the author had noted to use PVC type pipe if you plan to use these outside.
DIY Halloween Potion Bottles
These would really be spooky in a guest bathroom, if you’re hosting a party.
(Especially since you know all your nosey friends are looking in your medicine cabinets, anyway.)
Halloween Door Decorations
Never get a second chance to make that first, frightening impression!
DIY Bone Wreath
Heads up, it involves chicken bones. Nothing evil. Like, your KFC leftovers.
Don’t forget all our #FreakyFriday posts, that also have awesome decorating ideas!
Oh The Tangled Webs We Weave
(Not for the arachnophobes amongst us!)
Please do read Scary Mary, Quite Contrary as well – it’s my biggest Halloween pet peeve, and a very real safety issue for you and your family.
Hopefully, this has helped put you in a haunting mood! Follow us on all our social media (especially Facebook) for exclusive daily content and tons more Halloween fun…no bones, about it!
